UPRISE DANCE FESTIVAL

Uprise Logo4 & 5 September 2015
Inverness & Moray, Scotland

Bodysurf Scotland presents Uprise Dance Festival in Moray and Inverness this September. Fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s first contemporary ice-skaters Le Patin Libre join the acclaimed Marc Brew Company, challenging expectations and taking dance off-stage.

(I)LAND | MARC BREW COMPANY

2pm & 6pm, Friday 4 September 2015
11am & 2pm, Saturday 5 September 2015
Roseisle Beach, Kinloss (off the B9089 to Burghead), Moray

(i)Land follows three characters faced with life on a deserted island as they uncover the means of escape back to civilisation. Drawing inspiration from such stories as The Lord of the Flies and Castaway, (i)Land engages audiences, questioning our perception of the body, the politics of disability, isolation and exclusion, integrity and invention. The production is centred upon a six ton pile of sand which provides choreographer Marc Brew with a safe dance space to explore movement in solo, duet and trio, away from his wheelchair. **** The Herald

About Le Patin Libre:
Le Patin Libre is a contemporary ice-skating company from Montreal, Canada. This performance art uses ice, skates and glides as medias. The first collective was founded in 2005 by ex high-level figure skaters. They regrouped with the intention of transforming their athleticism as a means of free expression. Far from the sparkles, stereotypes and champion’s dance, the creations of Le Patin Libre propose real works of art, exploiting the amazing choreographic and theatrical potential of glide.
