Deborah Jay-Lewin on the success of Brand New

This year sees the tenth New Year 5Rhythms® gathering, Brand New, take place in Findhorn. We asked Deborah Jay-Lewin, this year’s tutor, about the longevity of Brand New and its long term success.

djlThere is a lot of pressure over New Year regarding how people are going to spend their time. Even if they don’t realise it’s important to them, how you end one year and begin another, subconsciously really matters to people.

Brand New is a place where people can give some attention to New Year in an environment that is supportive and full of celebration! It’s not just a workshop, we create enough space in the timetable in appreciation of the fact that it’s often a time when people are quite tired. As well as dancing with like-minded people, relaxation is built into the schedule in the form of a dip in the hot tub or walk on the beach.

Hogmanay, New Year, is such a tradition in Scotland, to combine dancing in the beautiful Findhorn Community and celebrating the Scottish tradition of Hogmanay is a winning combination of ingredients.
