This workshop offers an opportunity to engage with the creative, aesthetic and practical possibilities of making dance for the screen, under the guidance of the internationally renowned director Katrina McPherson.
The focus of this 2-day immersive workshop will be the potential and possibilities of filming dance in the elements, drawing inspiration from the stunning environments of Findhorn Bay in Moray, and the changing light and weather conditions of early spring.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience. Participants should bring along a camera, if they have one to work with.
About Katrina McPherson
Katrina is an award-winning screendance artist whose single, multi-screen and on-line works have been presented at festivals worldwide. Having lived in the Scottish Highlands for more than a decade, much of her collaborative performance-based practice has involved filming dance in the natural environment and this experience will inform the content of this hands-on, experiential workshop.
A much sought-after lecturer and workshop facilitator, Katrina has taught screen dance and related subjects, both practical and academic in the UK, Australia, Germany, USA, Canada and China. She is currently Associate Lecturer at the universities of Bath Spa, England and Limerick in Ireland and is Visiting Teacher of Screendance at the University of Utah in the USA. Katrina is the author of Making Video Dance, a step by step guide to creating dance for the screen, originally published by Routledge in 2006, with a new edition released in 2018.

Please let us know if you are travelling by car and willing to provide lifts for other participants. If you are travelling by train, please let us know if you require a pick up from Forres Train Station.
A vegetarian meal will be provided on the Saturday evening. For those staying on site at The Park Ecovillage, the Phoenix Shop is open until 18:00 daily, and cafes and pubs are located in the nearby village of Findhorn.
Please note, accommodation is not included in the price of this workshop. A list of recommended accommodation is available upon request.
Please ensure you bring appropriate warm, waterproof clothing that is suitable for the changeable Scottish springtime.
